Athletes To Watch - Men’s Edition

The Fittest Games is just days away and the excitement is growing to epic levels. The competition level is thick! 25 CrossFIt Athlete will compete in the Pro Division of the Fittest Games. In order to register as a pro you must have qualified for the 2011 CrossFit Games Regionals ( Any Region). Here are just a few of the athletes in action on 21st of January.

Aja Barto - Winner of the 2011 CrossFit Games South Central Regional and ranked 28th in the world at last years CrossFit Games; Aja is sure to show up ready to roll. We have only begun to see the edge of his potential and he already is among top athletes in CrossFit.

Patrick Burke - 13th overall at the CrossFit Games and defending champion of the 2011 Fittest Games; Patrick has consistently raised the bar of every competition he has been a part of. This four time Games Competitor had an impressive showing last year at the Fittest Games as he cruised to a victory. It will be interesting to see he battle against Aja.

Phillip Kniep -  Ranked 37th in the world after the 2011 CrossFit Games, Phillip is a true technician of the sport of CrossFit. Look for him to make immediate yet consistent noise throughout the day.

Andy Lewis - This Hometown Hero made waves in his first appearance at the 11’ Games. Finishing 46th overall, Andy has a bright future in the sport of CrossFit. He has a motor and he is not afraid to push the limits, do not be surprised if he steals the show.

Ricky Frausto Jr. - One word. Powerhouse. Ricky always shows up ready to compete. Ricky led CrossFit Omaha, a perennial CrossFit Games Affiliate contender, to a 20th overall finish in the world. He is definitely a catalyst that should not be overlooked as a contender for the top spot.

There are so many world class athletes competing at the 2012 Fittest Games. This will be a great preview of what is to come in the Open competition this year. There are a handful of sleepers in the group that should not be over looked. This is sure to be a old fashioned showdown. Whoever is able to run the gauntlet of top level athletes in this competition should be an athlete to watch throughout the year.
